Battlefield 3 fans will get a triple helping of new content this year. DICE has just announced their expansion plans, released some of the patch notes and unveiled the names of the forthcoming DLC expansions.
First will be Battlefield 3: Close Quarters. As the name suggests this is going to be a close quarters focussed expansion. Expect infantry only warfare in tight, urban settings with all the destructible scenery that the Frostbite 2 Engine can throw at you. To help you with your fast and frantic first person fraggage there will be a host of new weapons, new assignment challenges and new dog tags to acquire.
Second to be released is Battlefield 3: Armoured Kill. Much as Close Quarters will be all infantry expect Armoured Kill to be heavily focussed on vehicles and armour. Promised already are new tanks, ATV's, and mobile artillery pieces. The centre piece to Battlefield 3: Armoured Kill is the announcement that it will feature a host of new, very large maps ideally suited for vehicular combat including the largest every made map for a Battlefield game.
The last instalment Battlefield 3: End Game is expected to be released late in the year, most likely in time for Christmas. Beyond that little is known about the content of the expansion and everyone is remaining very tight lipped.
