Hello. My name is Joshua Alan Doetsch, and I hear voices. It's been...a few minutes since my last incident. But I'm a writer at Funcom, so I get to share my voices. Care to be abducted by the ear-worm frequency?

What drew you to The Secret World in the first place? Was it the fresh modern world, full of myths and conspiracies? Was it the unique story, riddled with witty and revealing twists and turns? Was it the original high quality content with features never before seen in an MMO, such as the creative Investigation Missions?

Hiya! My name is Tim Donks and I'm a System Designer at Funcom. I have worked for Funcom for almost five years now. I’ve spent most of this time on Age of Conan and the last few months on The Secret World, with a focus on Player vs. Player combat in both games. In this blog post I will discuss some of the upcoming PvP features in Issue #6; The Last Train

Creative Director of Funcom Joel Bylos outlines to the future content plans for The Secret World

The darkness in Egypt is ancient and its malevolent tendrils work tirelessly to spread their influence across the world. Issue #6;The Last Train to Cairo, will call upon you to contain this dire threat once again.
In this update you will play through a new, deep and revealing story within Egypt. Travel back in time to unearth powerful artifacts which can help you in the future, and see how the wondrous locations of The Scorched Desert looked in ages past.
Most of you have probably already heard this week’s news. Funcom has announced the creation of one joint, centralized team at our studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, and that team will be working on all of our live games going forward. This is part of the restructuring process that was started in order to create a better foundation for implementing the new company strategy of developing smaller, more focused online games at the same time as we keep our existing games going with both updates and support.
Obviously this means a few changes for all our games. The good thing is that we are now bringing all the developers into the same studio where we have previously only had customer service, billing, quality assurance and our community teams. Allowing all these different people to work together directly with the developers will hopefully be very beneficial for The Secret World as a live game. Having one centralized live team also allow each game to benefit from a shared pool of people with exceptional competence, experience and skill working on MMOs and especially live, operating MMOs.
Not everyone on the current team will join the centralized live team. The developers on The Secret World were given the opportunity to relocate, but it is only to be expected that people are not always willing to relocate. I would ask the community to join me in wishing those team members the very best in their future careers. You have been amazing and I know that you will continue to be amazing. It has been a pleasure and an honor.
How then, does this affect the production and development of The Secret World? In particular, how does it affect the milestones for the development and improvement of the game?
After a fairly epic battle, and many many wipes, we finally ended up with the mob dead and not us ^^. Though he did have one last trick, the pull before at 200k he triggered his Final Resort and nuked the hell out of our unsuspecting raid. The final pull when we expected it ended as you see above.
Well Done to all involved in the kill and Congratz to Quris, Praxedes and Severum who gained loot from the Boss and to everyone who got upgrades from the quest hand in.
(now to get it on farm, /runs from Knoodles wrath)

A brand new mission line is now available: „The Vanishing of Tyler Freeborn“. This is the first DLC mission. All current players and all players who purchase the game in December 2012 will receive it for free. To access the mission please open the Item Store and claim it from the Boosts / Account tab.

Tanya Short, Senior designer for The Secret World here. With December 21st coming up, I'm honestly nervous. The world is going to end. Everyone in the world is laughing at me, all of my family and friends, and all I want is to help them prepare. I don't want to be the only one left.
My colleagues at Funcom surprise me the most, to be honest. They're exposed to the deepest secrets of the Apocalypse, and even they don't believe! The Senior A.I. Designer implementing boss behaviors, David Fathers, rolls his eyes at me when I try to get him to stock up on his water and food rations. Even our amazing writer, Kasper Hartman, snickers when he thinks I'm not listening. No, our creative director Joel Bylos is the only one who understands, and he's not handling the pressure well, to be honest.
So, believe me, the apocalypse is coming. The languages of true meaning in this universe – the ones the mathematicians read from the orbits of the stars and the spinning of neutrons – they all say so. The problem is that "the Apocalypse" isn't one of those clean endings, black screen, roll credits. Fin. No, unfortunately, real ends are always more messy.
The same way Hollywood doesn't depict corpses evacuating their bowels, Hollywood also doesn't depict the limping suffering that comes After. But humanity's survived this before. The end of an Age has come again, and while it kinda sucks that I'm working overtime on The Secret World, maybe the servers will survive the transition for at least a little while. Maybe my little programs and rewards provide someone some comfort during the time between Ages.
To entertain myself, I'm building what I know about the Apocalypse into an in-game End of Days event. Since the world is ending who knows how many people will see it, but hey, I always did this for the joy of it, right?

Things have been quiet for a while in SW:TOR for PK, but when patch 2.0 came out, activity has gone up again far enough to start up operations again.
After a few runs on nightmare modes of classic operations (getting a few people the infernal and unyielding titles), we set our sights on Terror from Beyond this week. During our first run, we managed to clear all bosses up to the Terror from Beyond, but weren't able to get him down.

Being a large multi-gaming community it's not often people get to mingle with others from different games, so it was decided we would all get together in a mutual free to play game which the only requirement was for you to pick it up and play. Although not completely free we decided that along with the steam sale of Left 4 Dead 2 that we would utilise our L4D2 server and host the community night on there.
